FBLA hosted an in-person workshop dedicated to understanding market trends. Members explored key economic and financial concepts while discussing topics such as forex markets, GDP calculation methods, and how different markets can influence one another. The session included group presentations and real-world examples to help members better understand how market trends impact investment and business decisions.
We hosted a Technical Skills Workshop over Zoom to introduce members to the core technical skills needed in industry. Students learned about key concepts related to portfolio construction, risk tolerance, and balancing knowledge with communication in professional settings. The session included interactive questions and real-world examples to help members better understand industry expectations.
For this workshop, FBLA hosted a Recruitment, Timeline, and Resources session focused on internship preparation. Members were guided through the recruitment timeline and introduced to key deadlines for each graduating class (2026–2029). The session also covered strategies for securing internships and provided valuable resources on where and how to apply.
We were delighted to host Gary Chropuvka, a business leader and expert in quantitative investing, for this week’s virtual Speaker Event! Students had the opportunity to ask questions and receive invaluable insights from Mr. Chropuvka on breaking into the industry, strategies for success as college students, and his experience applying quantitative approaches in investing. We are incredibly grateful that he chose to share his expertise and perspective with us, and we look forward to hosting more exciting events like this in the future!
For the final event of the semester, FBLA hosted an information session for the State Leadership Conference taking place in March. Students were introduced to the various competitive events available and guided through the steps for signing up. Following this session, the Professional Development Committee hosted a Presentation Building Workshop, where they discussed effective communication practices, appropriate body language, and strategies for organizing a strong PowerPoint presentation.
This week, we were pleased to welcome Miki Mladenovic, Director of Corporate Treasury at Johnson & Johnson, for our latest FBLA Speaker Event. Mr. Mladenovic offered an inside look at his work in corporate treasury and shared thoughtful advice on building strong financial and professional skill sets. Students were able to ask questions, hear about real-world industry experiences, and gain a clearer understanding of career paths within a major global company. We appreciate the time he spent with us and look forward to continuing to bring impactful speakers to our members!
This week's meeting was a dining and professional event etiquette workshop! Leading up to our biggest event of the semester, Dining with the Distinguished, we had a short presentation on dining etiquette, business professional attire and networking do's and don'ts. Students had the chance to prepare and learn as much about our event as possible while also learning valuable networking tips and tricks for the future!
This week, the E-Board decided to hold office hours, introducing all our members to the valuable career-focused resources we have available. Resources such as cold email templates, networking trackers, sample networking questions and many others were presented by the E-board, followed by open office hours for resume reviews, practicing elevator pitches, general career and academic advice and much more.
